In January of 2016, Lisa's four-and-a-half-month-old niece, Harper Grace Harrison passed away from a congenital heart defect. In her short time on this earth, Harper touched many lives, especially her Aunt Lisa. She inspired Lisa to start her own practice and expand her services beyond just speech therapy. Lisa is now able to honor the memory of her precious niece by helping others. Lisa loves to share Harper's story and help people to see that you can take a tragedy and figure out a way to do something positive. Nothing makes her happier than honoring Harper Grace.
Lisa earned her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. She has over twenty years of experience working in various settings, including brain injury rehabilitation settings, home health care, nursing homes, the school systems, and private practice. She has worked with both adults and children, and has specialized in early intervention in private practice since 2005. Lisa’s main areas of expertise and passion are early intervention, developmental apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, expressive and receptive language delays, and social/pragmatic language delays. She has personal experience with auditory processing disorders, since her own child has an auditory processing disability. Lisa has a real passion for making sure the whole child is looked at, and making sure that each child is receiving the services they need and are entitled to in the public school systems. Lisa is a member of the North Carolina Speech Language Hearing Association, and is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Lisa is currently licensed to practice in North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. She loves spending time with her husband Roy, her children, Lauren and Caleb, and Lane (our Shih Tzu)
